History of Humayun

History of Humayun Emperor

Many things about Humayun have come to light through the biography written by Gulbadan Begum, Humayun's sister. In this biography, Gulbadan described Humayun as very humble. He tried several times to dissuade her under the pretext of writing a biography but was unsuccessful, as Gulbadan wrote

It is said that Humayun used to forgive his enemies for the good of his kingdom. He was also a scholar. He knew Turkish, Arabic and Hindi simultaneously. He was a scholar of philosophy, history, geography and ethics. Humayan fought four major wars in his life. Battle of Deora 1531. Battle of Chosa in 1538, Battle of Belgram in 1540 and Battle of Sirhind in 1555.

Humayun's war with Sher Shah began in 1538. In 1539, Sher Khan defeated Humayun in the Battle of Chosa near Buxar. The Mughal army suffered a lot. After the victory in this war, Sher Khan was given the title of Sher Shah.

After that in 1540 Humayun was also defeated in the Battle of Belgram near Kanauj. When Sher Shah pursued Humayun after conquering Agra and Delhi, he moved towards Sindh, Humayun lived in exile at Amarkot in Sindh. He married Hamida Bano there. And Akbar was born. But he did not sit still in this life of exile. In 1555 Sikandar Suri, the successor of Sher Shah Suri, won the war. It is called the Battle of Sirhind. He then recaptured Delhi and Agra. But Humayun died in 1556.
